How to Get Oil Stains Out of Clothes
Oil can cause a lot of trouble when it comes to staining. As a water-repellent substance, a basic rinse won’t cut it. The trick? Tackle it fast and let the right tools do the work. The best way to target oil stains is with baking soda. It’s simple, effective, and you’ve probably got some in the cupboard already. Here’s how to use it:
- Start by dabbing the oil stain with a paper towel to absorb as much of the oil as possible.Â
- Next, add baking soda to the stain and allow the garment to absorb it.
- If the stain remains, try rubbing dish soap into the stain. Avoid spreading the soap and oil to other parts of the garment, focusing purely on the stain.
- Finally, put your garment into the washing machine with a suitable detergent.
How to Get Blood Stains Out of Clothes
A blood stain may feel like a death sentence for your garments, but it is possible to bring them back to life, if you will, with a quick and effective response. You’ll need to act fast, so take a quick look at the garment’s care label to check that none of our stain removers will ruin its fabric.
- As soon as you notice the stain, soak it in cold water.
- Next, carefully use a baking soda paste to dab the stain directly. We’d recommend that you avoid scrubbing, as it may deepen the stain.
- Treat your garment with a laundry pre-treater.
- Put your garment into the washing machine with a suitable detergent or stain removal product.
- Refrain from putting your piece into the dryer until the stain is completely gone.
If you’re dealing with an existing dried blood stain, however, we’d recommend following these steps instead.
- Soak your garment in cold water mixed with liquid laundry detergent or your go-to stain removal product. Leave your garment to soak overnight.Â
- Use a laundry pre-treater before cleaning your garment in the washing machine.
How to Get Ink Stains Out of Clothes
Okay, now for our top tips for erasing the effects of an ink stain on your garments. Like blood, it’s best to act quickly, but you may find that you haven’t got all of our suggested cleaning products to hand. Worry not; we’ve got a natural remedy that you might be able to conjure up from items in your kitchen cupboard.
- Mix cornstarch and water to create a thick paste.
- Apply your paste directly onto the stain.
- Wait until the paste is completely dry before removing it from your clothing.
- Give it a rinse with cold water to get rid of any remaining cornstarch paste.
- Give it a proper wash in the washing machine for complete results.
